Everything you need to know about beginning ABA therapy with Kindaya.

Your Journey

What to Expect

From your first call to your child's first session — here is exactly what the process looks like.

1

First Conversation

We start with a phone call — no forms, no pressure. You tell us about your child, your questions, and your situation. We listen, answer honestly, and tell you whether Kindaya is a good fit. This call typically takes 20–30 minutes.

Timeline ·  Usually same week you reach out
2

Insurance Verification & Intake

Once you decide to move forward, we verify your insurance benefits and send intake paperwork. We handle the insurance legwork — you shouldn't have to navigate that alone. We'll tell you clearly what your coverage looks like before anything is scheduled.

Timeline ·  1–5 business days
3

BCBA-Led Assessment In Your Home

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst comes to your home for a comprehensive assessment. They'll observe your child, talk with you about your priorities and concerns, review any existing evaluations, and begin developing a treatment plan.

Timeline ·  Typically scheduled within 2–3 weeks of completing intake
4

Therapy Begins

Your child's RBT begins regular sessions in your home, supervised by the BCBA. Sessions are typically 2–3 hours. The BCBA reviews session data regularly and adjusts goals as your child makes progress.

Timeline ·  Within 1–2 weeks of assessment completion

What a Session Looks Like

A typical in-home session is delivered by a Registered Behavior Technician — a trained, supervised staff member who works directly with your child. Sessions usually run 2–3 hours and happen in your home, using your child's actual environment, toys, routines, and preferred activities.

The RBT follows a structured program developed by the supervising BCBA. Activities are purposeful but not rigid — therapy looks like play, practice, and natural conversation woven together. Your child won't be sitting at a desk for three hours.

The BCBA supervises remotely through data review and regular in-home supervision visits. At least monthly, you'll have a dedicated check-in to review your child's progress, ask questions, and adjust goals. Parent involvement is built in — not optional.

"Sessions happen at your home. No clinic, no commute, no unfamiliar setting. Just focused work in the environment where your child actually lives."

Parent Involvement

You are not a bystander. Kindaya designs parent participation directly into the treatment model. Monthly progress check-ins are standard — not optional extras.

Common Questions

Answers for Families

Honest answers to the questions families ask most — before and after a diagnosis.

Some children make such significant progress that they no longer need ABA services — and that's a goal we work toward. Whether and when that happens depends on each child's profile, their starting point, and the intensity of services. We can't promise a timeline, but we can tell you that early, consistent intervention tends to produce the best outcomes. Progress is real, measurable, and tracked throughout.
The right number of hours depends on your child's assessment results, the goals identified, your family's schedule, and your insurance coverage. Some children benefit from 10–15 hours per week; others may need 20–30 during intensive early intervention phases. The BCBA will recommend hours based on your child's specific needs, and we'll work within what your insurance authorizes. This is always a conversation, not a unilateral decision.
Some resistance at the start is completely normal. New people, new routines, new expectations — your child doesn't know yet that this is going to be okay. Our RBTs are trained to build rapport before pushing hard on any goals. The first few sessions are often more about building trust than drilling skills. Resistance usually decreases significantly as your child learns that sessions are predictable, safe, and often fun.
We collect data on every session — it's one of the things that makes ABA distinctive. You'll see actual numbers: trials correct, prompts needed, frequency of target behaviors. The BCBA reviews this data regularly and shares it with you. If something isn't working, we change it. Progress isn't assumed — it's measured.
In-home ABA uses your child's actual environment — their toys, their routines, their bedroom, their backyard. Skills learned at home tend to generalize better to everyday life. There's also no commute, no waiting room, and no unfamiliar setting to manage before therapy even begins. For many families, especially younger children, in-home is the right fit.
Absolutely. ABA and school are not in competition. Many families schedule sessions in the afternoon, after school, or on days with lighter school schedules. We coordinate around your family's real life, not the other way around.
A formal autism spectrum disorder diagnosis is required before we can begin ABA therapy and bill insurance. If your child is in the evaluation process, we're happy to have an early conversation so you're not starting from zero the day the diagnosis comes in. We can walk you through what to expect and what to prepare.
